KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal said the incumbent government has already stepped up its preparations for elections with a mandate to transfer the responsibility by maintaining good governance and assuring rule of law and corruption-free administration.

Launching the ‘Foreign National Management Information System (FNMIS)’ organized by the Department of Immigration here today, Minister Aryal said the government has also expected necessary roles from all stakeholders to conduct the election in a free and fair environment.

He expressed confidence that the system, which was inaugurated today aiming at helping the travel security of foreign nationals visiting Nepal, facilitating information flow, controlling potential crimes, and promoting tourism, would prove to be a milestone in the Immigration Information Management System.

Director General of the Department Ramchandra Tiwari stated that this system will make the entry, exit, and stay of foreign nationals more effective according to immigration laws, strengthen personal security for visitors, facilitate search and rescue during disasters, and monitor unwanted activities that may occur during their stay in Nepal.

Likewise, the system will make investigations more effective in case of crimes, and help develop Nepal as a safe tourist destination at a global level.
