KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has begun its third central committee meeting at the Miracle Party Palace in Sukedhara amid growing internal debate over party unity and the direction of national politics.
Party Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal used the opening session to challenge leaders advocating a reunion with the UML, saying those questioning the 2021 split were “bowing before KP Sharma Oli.”
He defended the decision to form the Unified Socialist, asserting the rebellion’s justification had been proven and urging cadres to face challenges with resolve.
General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal, speaking at the same meeting, warned that Nepal was heading toward a “political black hole” in the wake of the Gen Z movement.
He called for a serious review of the current political situation, noting that even constitutional provisions were being undermined.
Senior leader Jhalanath Khanal and others have recently questioned the rationale behind the UML split, sparking tension within the party.
The meeting is expected to deliberate on unity efforts, organizational strengthening, and the broader political climate.
