SIRAHA: Chairperson of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has empathized the need of restructuring federal democratic republic for country’s prosperity, and political stability.

At a programme to welcome the party newcomers and exchange greetings organized by JSP district committee in Lahan today, Yadav pitched for directly elected executive head and a fully proportional electoral system in the country.

Claiming that the present system has popped up corruption, he said there is no alternative to the restructuring of the systems.

“There is compulsion to spend tens of millions to win election. The representatives elected in this system are tempted to raise their election investment by committing corruption not through service to the people. So, in order to obliterate corruption, the electoral system should be transformed into fully proportional one,” he asserted.

The JSP Chair claimed that the system has not stabilized policy-making and also failed to win the trust of the people while citing reference of 11 times government changes during last 10 years.

He pitched for limiting parliamentary role for law-making and making directly elected President the executive chief of the country. “Only doing so will bring stability and accountability in the country,” he argued.

Yadav also echoed for rewriting of the constitution to address the voice of the Gen-Z.
