Kshitiz Thebe re-elected as Chair of UML’s youth wing

KATHMANDU: Kshitij Thebe has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the National Youth Association, the youth wing of CPN (UML).

He defeated his sole contender, outgoing General Secretary Suman Puri, by a margin of 188 votes during the organization’s 10th General Convention.

Thebe received 796 votes, while Puri managed 608.

Out of the total 1,764 eligible voters, 1,404 cast their votes.

The election was conducted through electronic voting after consensus efforts failed.

Voting began on Tuesday morning, with results announced in the evening.

In addition to the chairperson, other top positions were also filled.

Maharaj Gurung and Binay Shah were elected as Vice-Chairs.

Mahesh Chaulagain secured the post of General Secretary.

Upendra Shahi was elected as Deputy General Secretary.

Madan Bhandari and Arun Kunwar were elected as Secretaries, while Mobin Akhtar Alam was chosen as the Secretary under Madhesi category, and Nisha Limbu Subba as the Secretary under Women category.

Mohammad Nizamuddin was elected as Chair of the Disciplinary Commission.

Madan Giri will lead the Election Commission, and Krishna Dutta Jaisi has been elected as Chair of the Audit Commission.

The 10th General Convention of the National Youth Association was inaugurated last Friday by Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli.
