KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dhanaraj Gurung has demanded the formation of a high-level committee to probe the property details of leaders and employees who assumed post since 2046 BS (1990).
He said while putting his opinions on the government’s fresh policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS (2025-26) today.
As he said, the investigation of the properties owned by political leaders and employees through a powerful body will help prevent corruption and establish good governance.
Gurung further stressed that if the source of any property will become unknown, such property should be seized.
Welcoming the government’s policies and programmes that had been presented by President Ramchandra Paudel before the joint sitting of the Federal Parliament on May 2, the lawmaker from the ruling party said the document could be amended on the basis of consensus.
He also pressed the need to form an all-party committee to begin with the constitution amendment procedures, calling on political parties to have a consensus for the development of the nation, by keeping their political ideologies aside.
