KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has said he was bridging party’s seniors and young generations.
He lamented that his long-standing advocacy for incorporating the youths into the state mainstream both within the party and beyond had gone unheard, leading to the current developments. Dr Koirala said he has been demanding 20 percent youth participation at the central level, 30 percent at the provincial level, and 40 percent at the local level since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a meeting with office bearers of the Democratic Fighters’ Association Central Committee on Friday, he said the contributions of such fighters to the country’s democratic movement would always be remembered.
“The party, founded on the contributions of hundreds of fighters and youths, has now witnessed sheer ideological deviation,” he said, calling for the reconstruction of values, norms, dedication, and integration within the party.
