KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has accused opposition parties of continuously spreading false information.
Addressing the inaugural session of the party’s second Statute Convention in Godavari, Lalitpur, Oli said the opposition resorts to rumors when they fail to find substantive issues to criticize.
He specifically cited misinformation on his China visit and China’s recently proposed Global Security Initiative (GSI). “When we raise the nation’s pride, the opposition gets exposed, then they sip water in frustration,” Oli remarked.
Prime Minister Oli publicly disclosed his discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding Lipulekh, a territory under Indian encroachment.
Oli stated that China expressed firm respect for Nepal’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “I clearly told President Xi that the Indo-China agreement on Lipulekh using our land is unacceptable. He assured Nepal of China’s full respect,” he said.
He emphasized that Nepal–India border disputes will be resolved solely through diplomatic dialogue.“We have engaged in talks with the signatory parties bilaterally; we are not bringing a third party into it,” Oli noted.
Oli reiterated that he opposed any agreement allowing India and China to conduct trade using Nepali territory at Lipulekh, adding, “This is recorded—both audio and video, as well as in official notes.”
