KATHMANDU: Manish Koirala has been appointed as the central president of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of the Nepali Congress.

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa appointed Koirala, a resident of Kathmandu, to the post today in accordance with Article 42 (1) (f) of the party’s constitution, 2017 (with amendments). According to Krishna Prasad Dulal, the Acting Chief Secretary of the Nepali Congress Central Office, President Thapa made the appointment following a decision made during the party’s Central Working Performance Committee meeting held on May 3 (Baisakh 21).

The presidential post of the Tarun Dal had been vacant after its working committee automatically dissolved upon the expiration of its term.

The newly appointed president, Koirala, has been given the primary responsibility of successfully organizing and completing the Tarun Dal’s national convention within the designated timeframe. To guide this process, the party has provided a clear 9-point mandate and job description. Having been run by an ad-hoc committee for a long time, the party expects that the process for the national convention will now move forward with the arrival of the new leadership.
