KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to convene its Central Committee meeting starting September 25.

The decision was made during a meeting of the party’s office bearers on Sunday.

Chief Secretary of the party office, Ganeshman Pun, informed central committee members that the exact location and timing of the meeting will be decided later.

Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ proposed holding a special general convention in November, with the aim of dissolving all existing party committees from the central to local level.

During the office bearers’ meeting, Prachanda said the current political context requires a special convention to elect a new leadership.

“The situation is special. Let’s hold a special general convention and elect a new leadership,” he remarked.

As per party procedure, Prachanda’s proposal will be presented to the Central Committee for endorsement. If approved, all existing party structures will be dissolved, and a General Convention Organizing Committee will be formed.

The proposed General Convention Organizing Committee will be responsible for preparing and executing the special general convention planned for November.
