KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has begun at Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi, to decide on holding a special general convention.

At the meeting, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is set to propose the dissolution of the existing committee and the organization of a special general convention by December.

The proposal follows earlier decisions by the office-bearers’ meeting on Sunday and the Standing Committee meeting on Wednesday to forward the idea of a special convention to the Central Committee.

If endorsed, a General Convention Organizing Committee will be formed under the leadership of Chairman Dahal.

The Maoist Centre has stated that the special convention is necessary to introduce new policies and leadership in the aftermath of the Gen Z uprising.
