KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has strongly condemned what it calls a coordinated smear campaign against party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and his family members in certain media outlets and on social media platforms.
In a statement issued by Govinda Acharya on behalf of Prachanda’s Secretariat, the party expressed grave concern over recent attempts to spread misinformation and defame the leadership.
“At this sensitive juncture, we strongly denounce the deliberate, baseless, and defamatory content being circulated against the party leadership,” the statement reads.
The Secretariat said that the publication of abusive and defamatory materials under the pretext of freedom of expression violates journalistic ethics and legal standards.
It also noted that several recent reports have presented false details in a biased and sponsored manner, without verifying facts, sources, or obtaining the views of the concerned parties—calling such acts “serious and objectionable.”
The statement challenged those making claims that two trucks carrying Rs 20 million were moved from Prachanda’s residence before the Gen Z movement, that security personnel were being used as domestic workers, and that eight guards were stationed at his daughter Ganga Dahal’s house, to provide proof of these allegations.
The Secretariat further said that such false propaganda through digital media violates cyber laws and requested the concerned authorities to conduct necessary investigations and take legal action.
It warned that any future dissemination of such fabricated and malicious content would make the publishers and broadcasters solely responsible for the consequences.
