PATAN: Coordinator of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Convention Organizing Committee Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said the country is currently facing an extraordinary and complex situation, adding that the party’s role has become more significant in this difficult period.

Speaking at a greetings exchange and tea reception event organized by the Maoist Centre Lalitpur Metropolitan Committee at Mahalaxmisthan on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1146, Prachanda said the party has been given a huge responsibility, which is why a 10-point directive has been issued.

“On September 8, the Gen Z movement demonstrated the strength of youth motivated by love for the nation and reformist zeal against anomalies, corruption, and misgovernance. But the protests on September 9 also warned us how dangerously negative tendencies are developing in the country. We must understand that. After that, we all worked to prevent a state of anarchy from emerging,” he said.

Prachanda stated that the demands raised by the Gen Z protesters were also the party’s own demands, and that the Maoist Centre supports them.

He emphasized that the party must transform in line with the aspirations and sentiments of the youth.

“The Maoist party has always been capable of transforming with the times. We are in continuous dialogue with the Gen Z youth. They need to understand that through constitutional amendments. Revolutionaries must distinguish between friends and foes — this is something the new generation must also grasp,” he said.
