Minister Ghising pledges to work for increasing job opportunities

LALITPUR: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising expressed his commitment to work in a way to make engineering profession dignified and increase employment opportunities.

At an interaction on ‘Concerns of Engineers with Minster: Addressing Professional Agenda’ organized here today by the Nepal Engineers Association, Minister Ghising stressed the need to fix minimum wage of engineers, while viewing that the Ministry of Labour should take necessary managerial leadership to that end.

“We will pay attention to resolve the problems of engineers. Economic transformation will affect the employment of engineers. There is a huge demand of engineers in private and public institutions.

Work has been negatively influenced in lack of vacancy fulfillment as per the need”, Ghising, also the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transportation and Urban Development, noted.

Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transportation Keshab Prasad Sharma said the ministry would facilitate the process in the tasks including amendment to the laws for fixing problems facing engineers.

Likewise, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development Gopal Prasad Sigdel said there is high demand of competent engineers in Nepali market but supply is short.

Chairperson of the Nepal Engineers Association Subas Chandra Baral said such interactions have helped address the problems associated to the engineering service.
