KATHMANDU: Members of the National Assembly have drawn the government’s attention to urgent issues caused by monsoon-related disasters and administrative irregularities.
During today’s zero-hour session, lawmakers called for immediate reconstruction of damaged roads and bridges, as well as search, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected Rasuwa.
Lawmakers Sabitri Malla, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma, Rukmini Koirala, and Ananda Prasad Dhungana urged the government, via the House chair, to respond seriously to the Rasuwa flood tragedy, and demanded relief and resettlement efforts.
They also requested necessary support for Madhes Province, which has been declared drought-affected.
MP Ghanashyam Rijal raised concerns over allegations of bribery in the Company Registrar’s Office, where officials reportedly demanded bribes under the pretext of a “server down” situation to register or renew companies.
He called for an immediate investigation and action against those involved. “If people have to pay bribes just to register a company, how can we expect investment and economic growth?” he asked.
MP Manrupa Sharma highlighted the poor condition of major roads, especially the Narayangadh–Butwal section at Daunne-Dumkibas, and stressed the need for repairs nationwide.
Similarly, MP Renu Chand demanded budget allocation for the construction of a suspension bridge connecting Panchdeval Binayak Municipality (Achham) and Aathbiskot Municipality (Dailekh).
MP Shreekrishna Prasad Adhikari called on the government to clarify its official position on protecting the lives of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
MP Bishnu Kumari Sapkota criticized the elimination of district-level women and children offices, saying it has undermined efforts toward women’s empowerment and development.
