KATHMANDU: During the zero hour of today’s National Assembly session, several members demanded a serious investigation and accountability regarding the alleged manipulation of the ‘cooling-off period’ provision in the Federal Civil Service Bill.
Dr. Beduram Bhusal raised concern that the official report on the bill has still not been distributed, casting doubt over possible procedural irregularities.
Mrigendra Singh Yadav urged action against those who tampered with the bill’s contents and submitted a misleading report.
Gangakumari Belbase called for a thorough probe into the incident and punishment for those responsible. Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami described the insertion of the provision as an act of dishonesty.
Federal Civil Service Bill was passed by the House of Representatives on June 29 and is now under review in the National Assembly.
Separately, Maya Prasad Sharma reminded the House that victims of the November 2023 earthquake are still suffering, with monsoon rains adding to their hardship in some areas.
Jag Prasad Sharma drew the government’s attention to the need for preparedness in light of monsoon-related risks, urging response in line with expert forecasts.
