KATHMANDU: A meeting of senior leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress held a discussion on the election of the HoR State Affairs Committee chair.

The meeting held today at the private residence of party president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha discussed the possible candidate for the post of the State Affairs Committee. A new chair is being elected after erstwhile Chair Ramhari Khatiwada resigned from his post over the ‘cooling off period’ controversy in the new Civil Service Bill.

A discussion was held about who would be appointed as the chair in the position representing the party, the party’s Vice President Dhanraj Gurung said. Similarly, the meeting also discussed the by-election to be held in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 scheduled to be held in late October.

A meeting will be held again tomorrow morning to finalize both the issues, Gurung added.
