SARLAHI: President of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has pledged to initiate property investigations targeting party leaders once a Congress-led government is established following the House of Representatives elections.

During an election rally held by the party today at Bayalbas Bazaar in Ishwarpur Municipality-6, Sarlahi, the NC President announced that the property of all leaders who remained in the prominent positions of state business after 1990 will undergo investigation.

“My primary agenda upon assuming the role of Prime Minister will be to eradicate the existing corruption in the nation. This process will begin with the investigation of property belonging to both former and current leaders of the party,” he said.

According to Thapa, initially, a powerful commission will be established to oversee the investigation of the property from former party presidents, ministers, and prime ministers.

President Thapa called on the public to exercise their voting rights responsibly, stressing that parties advancing with a ‘nation-building agenda’ should not be labeled as either new or old.

“Once I take office as Prime Minister, I will provide monthly updates to the citizens regarding performance reports and future plans, rather than doing so annually.

Farmers in Madhesh should not face difficulties in accessing fertilizers, seeds, irrigation, and fair prices for their agricultural products. We will implement a system that resolves all issues with just a single card for farmers,” he added.
