KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has commenced its office-bearers meeting at Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s private residence in Budhanilkantha.

The meeting, which began earlier this morning, is set to discuss contemporary political developments, government policies, the Transitional Justice (TRC) process, and other pressing agendas, according to Krishna Prasad Paudel, Chief Secretary of NC party office.

A Congress official informed that the issue of Governor appointment, which has stirred tensions between Nepali Congress and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, is also on the discussion table.

Despite legal provisions requiring a new Governor to be appointed a month before the predecessor’s term ends, the government has failed to make the appointment even a month after the term expired.

Concerns are rising within Nepali Congress over Prime Minister Oli’s handling of the appointment process. Second-rank leaders of the party have openly criticized Oli’s reluctance to proceed with the Governor’s selection, suspecting intentional delays.

The issue is expected to feature prominently in today’s discussions as the Congress leadership strategizes its next steps in addressing governance challenges and coalition friction.
