KATHMANDU: The special general convention organized by proponents of the Nepali Congress Special General Convention has decided to conduct elections in accordance with the party’s old statute.
The Election Committee formed by the Special General Convention announced this decision at a press conference held today, stating that the elections will be conducted under the party’s previous statute.
According to the old statute, elections will be held for one party president, two vice presidents, two general secretaries, eight joint general secretaries, and 121 central committee members, informed Election Committee Coordinator and senior advocate Sitaram KC.
As per the procedures formulated by the Special General Convention, a five-member Election Committee was formed under the coordination of senior advocate KC.
Coordinator KC also informed the press conference that the nomination of candidates will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, there were 4,743 voters. Excluding those who have passed away or joined other political parties, there are currently 4,635 General Convention representatives.
