KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress, Nepal’s main ruling party, has expressed serious concern over what it perceives as China’s evasive stance on the Lipulekh issue.

During a special session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Nepali Congress MP Dilendra Prasad Badu stated that the Chinese President’s response regarding the border dispute was not positive.

MP Badu criticized China’s position that the Lipulekh dispute is a bilateral issue to be resolved solely by Nepal and India, and that China will not get involved.

He emphasized that on matters of border disputes, territorial integrity, and sovereignty, the parliament, political parties, and civil society must remain united.

He also thanked Prime Minister for clearly expressing Nepal’s objection to the agreement between India and China to make Lipulekh a trade route without Nepal’s involvement or consent.

According to press notes from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and the Foreign Ministry, the Prime Minister conveyed Nepal’s clear objection to the August 19, 2025, agreement to the Chinese President.

Badu added that the Prime Minister also maintained Nepal’s stance that Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiadhura belong to Nepal as per the Sugauli Treaty.
