KATHMANDU: A new political party, Gatisheel Loktantrik Party, has been registered at the Election Commission under the initiative of Buddha Air’s Executive Chairman Birendra Bahadur Basnet.

The party’s president is Dr. Dinesh Prasai, a sociologist and entrepreneur who also serves as Executive Director of Hotel Jalmahal in Pokhara.

Piyush Kayastha, who previously worked with the European Union for several years, has been appointed as the general secretary. Basnet himself will serve as a central working committee member.

According to the party’s concept paper, the main goal of the new formation is to promote sustainable employment within Nepal’s federal democratic framework.

The party vows to maintain financial transparency by publishing all financial transactions every three months on its official website.

It also promises to select candidates through primary elections, emphasizing merit-based inclusion and internal democracy.

“Our first and foremost duty is to ensure every Nepali has access to decent, sustainable employment,” the document states. “The full work of the government should focus on development, investment, and creating lasting job opportunities for citizens.”

The party claims it will encourage creativity and productivity among citizens to make society more dynamic and prosperous. It stresses that its involvement in politics stems from a sense of responsibility toward the nation rather than professional ambition.

“We are entering politics not as a career but as a civic duty,” the party said.

The Gatisheel Loktantrik Party has adopted the slogan “Let’s Unite, Save the Nation, Build the Nation.”

The party also introduced a series of reforms aimed at transparency and accountability.

The party’s leadership structure will include secretaries at federal, provincial, and municipal levels, focusing on good governance, entrepreneurship, and equality.

All financial records, including donations and expenditures, will be published online. Annual budgets and audit reports will be made publicly available, ensuring complete transparency.

The party has pledged to reject patronage politics and prioritize innovation and inclusivity in political participation.
