KATHMANDU: A unification among nine political parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre), is being announced today.
According to Maoist Centre spokesperson Agni Sapkota, the unification declaration program will take place at 11 a.m. at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
The parties joining the unification include: the Maoist Centre, CPN (Unified Socialist), Nepal Samajwadi Party led by Mahindra Raya Yadav, CPN (Socialist) led by Raju Karki, Janasamajwadi Party led by Subashraj Kafle, CPN led by Chiran Pun, Maoist Socialist Party led by Karnajit Budhathoki, CPN (Samyabadi) led by Prem Bahadur Singh, and Maoist Communist Party Nepal led by Gopal Kirati.
After the unification announcement, the new party will be registered with the Election Commission.
The unified party has agreed on the name “Nepali Communist Party” and will use a five-pointed star as its election symbol.
The event will also declare the party’s leadership structure, with Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ serving as the coordinator and Madhav Kumar Nepal as the co-coordinator.
