RUPANDEHI: Chairperson of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Upendra Yadav said there is alternative to election in the country.

At the first convention of the party’s Lumbini Province Committee in Bhairahawa today, Yadav stressed the need for the government to enable election environment in the country.

Currently there are concerns and questions about security environment, he said, urging the government to address the issues.

“The incumbent government’s main responsibility is to conduct election. The government should boost the confidence of police administration for creating election friendly atmosphere”, Yadav noted.

The former Deputy Prime Minster advocated for the representation on the basis of the population. He highlighted the need of electoral system reforms in a way that the parties and candidates are not required to make spending in elections.

Yadav also argued for making the province governments empowered for functionalizing federal structures.
