KATHMANDU: The secretariat of Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Coordinator of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has clarified that no final decision has been made regarding unification with any political party.
The clarification comes amid growing discussions about a possible merger between the Maoist Centre and other parties, including the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
According to Prachanda’s secretarit, the Maoist Centre has been holding intensive discussions with parties involved in the Socialist Front and other leftist and progressive groups to explore the possibility of forming a united front.
The secretariat further emphasized that unity among left and progressive forces is an essential condition to safeguard the achievements of Nepal’s past revolutions and to complete the unfinished socio-political transformation.
It also refuted rumors circulating on social media and in some media outlets suggesting that the Maoist Centre had already decided to merge with other parties.
“While discussions are ongoing with various political forces considering the current historical necessity, there is no truth to the claims that any formal agreement or final decision has been made,” the statement read.
The clarification follows days of political speculation after leaders from both the Maoist Centre and Unified Socialist publicly hinted at the possibility of reviving a united left front.
