KATHMANDU: Following days of intense Gen Z-led protests that shook Nepal, security organizations have urged citizens not to engage in any activity that could disturb the fragile law and order situation, which is gradually returning to normalcy.

The demonstrations, initially sparked by demands for transparency, accountability, and an end to corruption and privilege, escalated into nationwide unrest, causing casualties, injuries, and widespread disruption to daily life.

In response, security forces were deployed across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and other affected districts to maintain peace.

Authorities emphasized that while the situation is stabilizing, vigilance is still required, and all sections of society must cooperate to prevent any further disturbances.

Amid the unrest, the political landscape saw rapid changes. Prime Minister KP Oli resigned, and discussions led to the formation of an interim government tasked with restoring stability and preparing for fresh elections.

Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has been proposed as a potential head of the transitional administration. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah publicly supported this move, urging citizens, especially the protesting youth, to remain patient.

The interim government is expected to address the grievances raised during the protests, including demands for transparency, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Meanwhile, security forces continue monitoring sensitive areas, ensuring public infrastructure and transportation networks are safe, and warning against any actions that could reverse the progress made in stabilizing the situation.
