KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) chair KP Sharma Oli said Home Minister Omprakash Aryal has shown a personal enmity toward him.

Oli made the remarks Wednesday after inspecting his house in Balakot, Bhaktapur, which had been set on fire.

Oli claimed the government has so far refused to punish the perpetrators and alleged that the home minister had ordered that the criminals be spared.

He said the minister’s intent was apparent from an interview Aryal gave to the media. “Just yesterday I watched the home minister’s interview.

From his manners, his culture, his intent, his purpose, his destination—what he wants to do is visible. From those expressions you can clearly see the government, the government’s mindset, the government’s purpose, and the government’s destination in the home minister’s interview yesterday. The home minister’s intent is completely visible,” he said.

Oli added that the government’s disposition favors vandalism and looting, and that it harbors hostility toward those who have been harmed — and, personally, toward him.

“You can see his hostility toward those who were attacked and suffered losses,” he said.“Another point is that his hostility is directed at me personally. I have not crossed their limits; I don’t even know where the house is,” he claimed.

He said he has serious suspicions about the government’s intentions. Oli alleged that the government has been summoning people referred to as “Gen Z” (or those labeled as such), asking them to apply pressure on his side — to come as delegations, abuse them, create pressure — and then use that manufactured pressure as justification to launch actions such as arrests.

“I have grave suspicions about the government; I seriously suspect they are planning to do something. Because the government calls so‑called ‘Gen Z’ people and tells them, ‘You put pressure on us, come as a delegation, behave as if you insult us and put pressure on us, then we will say we were pressured and proceed with actions, arrest so‑and‑so’ — they instruct and send them,” he said.
