KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has launched a fierce attack on Sushila Karki-led government, calling it “a temporary, foundationless government that could collapse any moment,” while rejecting reported attempts to restrict his travel outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Speaking at a tea reception organized at the UML central office in Chyasal on Saturday, Oli warned that no authority could curtail his constitutional right to free movement.
“They say elections will be held, yet they tell me not to visit my own home in Jhapa. Which law forbids me from traveling within Nepal?” he asked defiantly.
Oli accused the government of acting arbitrarily and trying to muzzle opposition activities through informal orders.
“They want elections but stop parties from reaching the people. Is this democracy?” he said, adding that the UML would not bow to “unjust and illegal directives.” He also ridiculed the government as fragile and directionless.
“This is nothing but a bubble — a temporary government without a foundation. Even a slight tremor will make it collapse,” Oli remarked.
“Still, it behaves as if it holds power and authority. How can a government without a base intimidate anyone?” he asked.
