KATHMANDU: In ongoing talks with the government and political parties, representatives of the Gen Z movement have clarified that elections alone are not the core agenda of their campaign.
During the discussion, the Gen Z delegates emphasized that while they want elections to be held, the government must also move forward with strong measures for good governance and action against corruption.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s press advisor, Ram Bahadur Rawal, who briefed the media after the meeting, said the representatives made their stance clear.
“Elections are necessary, but merely focusing on elections is not enough. The main demands of our movement are good governance and anti-corruption action. The government must advance both agendas together,” Gen Z delegates said.
The first round of tripartite talks included Gen Z representatives such as Raksha Bam, James Karki, Diwakar Dangal, Purushottam Yadav, Miraj Dhungana, Amit Khanal (Urja), Rizen Ranamagar, Samana Gharti, Monika Niraula, Uparjun Chamling, and Khem Saud.
Representatives of the families of martyrs — Bhoj Bikram Thapa, and of the injured — Abhishek Shrestha, along with Bibek Dhakal and Sagar Dhakal, also presented their views in the meeting.
