KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives meeting scheduled for today was adjourned until 1:30 PM tomorrow after the main opposition continued its obstruction for a second consecutive day, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and a parliamentary probe into the visit visa scam.

Earlier in the day, the session had briefly convened but was suspended for half an hour in hopes of reaching a consensus through informal dialogue.

However, no agreement was achieved, and the post-break session could not proceed either. As a result, the Parliament Secretariat posted a notice announcing the adjournment of the meeting.

The main opposition parties, led by the CPN (Maoist Center), have remained firm in their position, accusing the Home Minister of moral and political responsibility in connection to the large-scale scam involving the illegal trafficking and exploitation of Nepali citizens under the guise of visit visas.

With tensions high and no sign of a resolution, the focus now shifts to tomorrow’s session, scheduled for 1:30 PM on Thursday, where the government is set to table the annual budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.
