KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has reiterated her government’s commitment to conducting elections on the scheduled date in a peaceful and fear-free environment.

She made the statement during a meeting with political parties on Tuesday.

“The government is fully committed to ensuring elections are held on time in an atmosphere free of fear,” Prime Minister Karki said.

“For this, ministers, security agencies, and all of us are working tirelessly,” PM Karki said.

Clarifying the reason for delays in initiating dialogue with political parties, she explained, “In the meantime, we had to focus on treating the injured, managing the bodies of martyrs, providing relief to families, and listening to the concerns of the protesting side. These tasks took some time.”

According to her, in the initial phase, the ‘GenZ’ youth group was reluctant to engage in dialogue with political parties.

“The President has now opened the door for dialogue. Let GenZ and the parties sit together — whatever it takes, let’s normalize the situation and move toward elections,” Prime Minister Karki said.

She also urged all sides to play their respective roles in ensuring the success of the upcoming elections.

“The government is ready to address the concerns and issues you have raised,” she emphasized.
