KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has briefed the House of Representatives on his upcoming five-day visit to China. Addressing the session on Friday, he expressed confidence that the visit would be beneficial for Nepal.
According to the Prime Minister, Nepal has been gradually enhancing its level of participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He highlighted that, as the world’s largest organization, the SCO offers Nepal significant opportunities to gain strategic benefits.
During the visit, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Han Zheng. He will also hold talks with the heads of government from several friendly nations.
The SCO’s inaugural program, starting on September 1, will be attended by Prime Minister Oli, who will also observe China’s celebration of its victory in the anti-fascist world war against Japan on the final day, September 3.
At least 50 countries are expected to participate in the event.
Expressing optimism that the visit will enhance Nepal’s national interest and prestige, Prime Minister Oli stated, “Our delegation will work to elevate Nepal’s image on the global stage.”
