KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a National Security Council meeting following the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting is currently being held at Singha Durbar.
Attendees include Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Nepal Army Lieutenant General Nirmal Kumar Thapa, Inspector General of Nepal Police Deepak Thapa, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Raju Aryal, and Chief Director of the National Investigation Department Hutaraj Thapa.
Following the Central Security Committee’s meeting, Nepal has increased security along its border areas. The Armed Police Force has been tasked with tightening monitoring at border checkpoints, and all security units have been placed on high alert, as confirmed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India has requested Nepal’s security agencies to prevent any suspicious individuals from entering the country.
With the open border between the two nations, heightened vigilance has been enforced to ensure security and stability.
