KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that while many things can be tolerated, he will never accept the humiliation of the nation.

Addressing delegates on the final day of UML’s Statute Convention at the Sunrise Convention Center in Godavari, Lalitpur, Oli emphasized the party’s opposition to disorder and disrespectful behavior.

“Nationalism is neither poetry nor a fleeting interest. We are a force that has sacrificed for free speech and national pride. UML does not oppose social media, but illegal business practices under the guise of legality will not be tolerated. Some people oppose merely for the sake of opposition, fluttering like butterflies,” Oli said.

He criticized self-proclaimed intellectuals for attempting to influence society, adding, “Recently, efforts have been made to agitate society under the name of the ‘Gen Z’ generation, but this generation loves the country.”

Recalling the government’s order from a year ago to register social media platforms, he added, “The independence of the country is far greater than the employment of four individuals. Those who do not respect the law, the constitution, national pride, or sovereignty cannot be tolerated. Independence is gained through dignity, and dignity brings freedom.”

Oli further highlighted the party’s policies to reduce inequality and eliminate discrimination, stating that the UML will continue to advance its mission under ‘Mission 2027’ while embracing policies finalized through discussion.
