KATHMANDU: At a meeting of ward chairs elected from CPN-UML in Bagmati Province, Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli accused the cooperative looters of pointing fingers at the UML.
Oli claimed that the very people involved in embezzlement within the cooperative sector are trying to appear innocent and are now giving lectures on justice.
He remarked, “They chant slogans, refuse to repay what they’ve taken, and still shout the loudest against corruption — how shameless!”
According to him, the current campaign to portray the UML as corrupt in the cooperative scandal is misleading. “There’s a noisy effort to make it look like our party was responsible for wrongdoing in cooperatives,” Oli said.
He also criticized Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Oli said, “Look at Prachanda’s voice — he leaps into speeches against corruption. These days, even the corrupt are delivering fiery speeches about corruption.”
Oli further said that although the Maoists tried to imitate UML’s Mechi–Mahakali campaign, they failed to generate the same public response.
“While UML’s campaign drew massive crowds, theirs couldn’t match that wave of public support,” he added.
Mocking the hypocrisy of those accused in the cooperative scam, Oli said they are now making bold claims of delivering justice to victims while refusing to return the embezzled funds.
