LALITPUR: The CPN (UML) Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that constitutional amendments and electoral reforms will be carried out in accordance with a bipartisan agreement.
Speaking on the final day of UML’s second statute convention, held at the Sunrise Convention Center in Godavari, Lalitpur, Oli responded to questions and queries raised during the group discussion on the political report.
He said that the current government is based on a seven-point consensus, which will be implemented gradually.
“We need to ensure good governance and move forward by reforming the electoral system. Rather than creating unnecessary debates, work should aim for conclusions. Efforts for national unity, good governance, and development will be based on equality,” Prime Minister Oli said.
He emphasized that many points have already been detailed in the political proposals and that they will be implemented with maturity.
“We will work while considering the suggestions received. The current constitution was promulgated after significant effort. We have advocated for 31 fundamental rights. The constitution was formed on the basis of multi-party democracy. When building a path, there is resistance, but once the path is built, no one says they won’t walk on it. We are advancing on the path of the nation, the people, and development,” he added.
Regarding the questions and suggestions received on the political report, Oli stated that the UML is no longer in the situation it was yesterday and is now centered on accountability and competitive politics.
“Currently, the slogan is for left unity. It is not that those who tried to destroy us yesterday are coming back; rather, the party is dwindling, and a few are now trying to impose the slogan of unity. Why should we take the burden?” he said.
