KATHMANDU: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli is set to leave for China on August 30 for a five-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The visit will include his participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin as well as commemorative events in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
According to officials, Oli will be accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya.
He is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping in Tianjin and deliver an address at the SCO Plus Summit on September 1.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Nepali premier will also hold meetings with several world leaders attending the event.
In Beijing, Oli is slated to meet Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on September 2. The following day, he will take part in official anniversary programs organized by the Chinese government.
The Prime Minister’s delegation will include Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Panta, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, Member of Parliament Purna Bahadur Khadka, Economic and Development Advisor Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Member of Parliament Chhabilal Bishwakarma, along with senior government officials.
Oli and his team are scheduled to return to Kathmandu on September 3 after concluding the visit.
