KATHMANDU: Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), have agreed to deepen cooperation between their parties.

Biplav, accompanied by CPN spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma ‘Prakanda’, visited Prachanda at his Khumaltar residence on Saturday. The two leaders discussed recent political developments and future collaboration.

According to Prachanda’s secretariat, both leaders reached a consensus to activate the Socialist Front and continue dialogue with an eye toward possible party unification.

“A consensus was reached to activate the Socialist Front and to continue dialogue and cooperation towards potential party unification,” a member of the secretariat said.

Prachanda has earlier said he was engaged in talks with Biplav and other former Maoist leaders to pursue party unity. However, Biplav’s faction has frequently criticized the Maoist Centre, citing a lack of seriousness in previous unification efforts.
