KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, chairman of the main opposition CPN (Maoist Centre), has affirmed his commitment to prevent any injustice against the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and its leader Rabi Lamichhane.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at Singha Durbar, Prachanda said RSP leaders would eventually understand his efforts. His remarks came amid the controversy over the visit visa scandal, where RSP opposed the government’s investigation committee formed under an agreement between the Maoist Centre, Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML.

The committee, led by former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, was established on Monday but was rejected by RSP and Rastriya Prajatantra Party in the parliamentary session on Tuesday, accusing it of covering up the Home Minister’s wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, senior leaders of the Maoist Centre and CPN (Unified Socialist) held talks at Singha Durbar, including Prachanda, senior vice-chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and general secretary Dev Gurung from Maoist Centre, and chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, senior vice-chair Rajendra Pandey, and general secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal from Unified Socialist.

The leaders discussed the visit visa investigation committee and related political developments.
