KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Prachanda has confirmed ongoing talks to unify his party with the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Nepal and the CPN led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav).

Speaking at a party leaders’ meeting on Thursday, Prachanda said, “Unity will happen with Madhav Nepal’s Unified Socialist and Biplav’s CPN.”

Meanwhile, the party has decided to prepare for street protests against the government following the monsoon and upcoming festivals.

Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said, “The government has not addressed the demands of the people. Governance is weak, and corruption is increasing. Considering the current situation, we must prepare for street protests.”

Sapkota added that the protests will also highlight strategic issues, including raising public awareness about the democratic republican socialism guaranteed by the constitution and forms of a socialism-oriented state.
