KATHMANDU: Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that attempts to prevent former President Bidya Devi Bhandari from returning to politics are “unnatural.”
Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Thursday, Prachanda remarked that it is an international practice for former presidents and vice presidents to re-enter politics, and therefore their return should not be considered inappropriate.
He added that such moves would not undermine the relevance of the constitution. Prachanda noted that while the current constitution is the best, its implementation has faced challenges due to the lack of laws framed under it.
He also made it clear that any activities against party decisions and procedures would not be tolerated. Responding to a question on whether internal leaders trust his leadership, Prachanda said that internal disagreements, such as those expressed by Janardan Sharma, would not stop the movement forward.
On the issue of Kalapani and Lipulekh, Prachanda stressed that border disputes with neighboring countries should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations.
