KATHMANDU: During the ongoing central committee meeting of the Nepali Congress in Sanepa, central committee member and immediate past Health Minister Pradip Paudel proposed reforms for generational and structural transformation in the party.
He emphasized that the recent Gen Z revolt should not be viewed with suspicion but addressed for its core issues—corruption, governance, economic development, and youth employment.
Paudel suggested increasing youth participation in party leadership and forming a “Digital Youth Congress” to integrate new-generation talent from ward to central levels.
He also proposed reducing the size of federal, provincial, and local governments.
Paudel called for a single membership system and direct election of party leaders from active members.
Candidate selection for upcoming elections should be based on internal primaries, and the party should nominate its prime ministerial candidate in advance.
He urged holding the 15th general convention immediately, warning against postponement, to bring fresh leadership, policies, and increased youth engagement.
The proposal also calls for verification of assets of all leaders since 1990 and nationalization of assets without proven sources, emphasizing zero tolerance for corruption.
