KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane was brought from Nakkhu Prison to Singha Durbar on Tuesday to give a statement to a high-level inquiry commission investigating the crackdown on Gen Z protests and the circumstances of his temporary release from prison.
The commission, led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, summoned Lamichhane, regarding his release on September 9, when he was freed from custody citing security concerns.
Questions have been raised over the authenticity of a letter issued by prison authorities at the time.
Earlier, the commission visited Nakkhu Prison to review the incident and recorded a statement from jail chief Satyaraj Joshi.
Lamichhane was questioned at Singha Durbar about the letter and the events surrounding his release.
