KATHMANDU: Ramkumari Jhakri, leader of CPN (Unified Socialist), has expressed support for Gen Z’s call for leadership transition within the party.

In a Facebook post, she endorsed a statement by 526 party-affiliated youth advocating generational change and the handover of leadership.

Jhakri emphasized that Gen Z must be politically and ideologically organized to lead the country in the future, noting the limited social impact of traditional youth wings.

Her statement comes amid ongoing discussions of a potential merger between CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist).

Reports indicate that some senior leaders, including CPN (Unified Socialist) respected leader Jhalnath Khanal and General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal, oppose a merger unless the top leadership of both parties steps down.

Similarly, in CPN (Maoist Centre), senior leader Narayankaji Shrestha and Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma share this view.

The youth statement also called for reforms within party structures, creating meaningful space for progressive young leaders, and mobilizing leftist voters.
