KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak appeared before the high-level inquiry commission on Monday to record his official statement.

The judicial commission, led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, had summoned Lekhak to investigate the state’s response during the Gen Z protest on September 8 and 9.

Lekhak, who held the home portfolio during the protests that resulted in 77 deaths and physical damage worth billions of rupees, provided his testimony regarding the alleged use of excessive force.

The commission is now entering its final investigative phase.
