KATHMANDU: Resham Chaudhary, the founder and patron of the Nagrik Unmukti Party, has officially resigned from the party.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Chaudhary stated that he is founding a new party named “Nagrik Unmukti Nepal”, marking a new chapter in his political journey.
Recently, tensions had been rising between Chaudhary and party president Ranjita Shrestha, who is also his wife. The two had formed separate factions within the party due to disagreements on various political issues.
Following the Tikapur incident, Chaudhary served time in prison and was later released under a presidential pardon. He was one of the founding leaders of the Nagrik Unmukti Party. However, growing internal disputes within the party led him to take this decisive step.
