KATHMANDU: A large royalist rally calling for the restoration of Nepal’s monarchy and reestablishment of the Hindu state began on Thursday from Sifal, Kathmandu, marking a major event in a growing movement against the current federal system.

The procession, led by Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-Nepal) Chair Kamal Thapa and Joint People’s Movement Committee coordinator Nawaraj Subedi, advanced toward Ratnapark, where a mass gathering is planned at Shanti Batika.

This demonstration is part of a coordinated campaign by over 45 royalist and pro-Hindu groups united under the Joint People’s Movement Committee banner. The organizers declared Ratnapark the movement’s central hub for ongoing protests.

Protesters were encouraged to bring umbrellas as a symbolic gesture and maintain peaceful conduct throughout the rally.

The key demands include reinstating the monarchy, declaring Nepal a Hindu nation once again, and abolishing the federal governance system. Rally leaders claim that the current political structure has failed to protect Nepal’s national identity and meet public expectations.

Prominent figures such as Kamal Thapa, RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden, and Nawaraj Subedi are set to address the crowd, emphasizing that “change is a national necessity” due to widespread political dissatisfaction.
