KATHMANDU: Carrying umbrellas symbolizing the royal crown, royalist protesters continued their agitation for a second day, demanding the return of the monarchy and reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu state.
On the first day, demonstrators had gathered in the Ratnapark area, while on the second day, they marched from Maitighar Mandala to New Baneshwor chanting pro-king slogans.
Kathmandu’s traffic was disrupted in several areas due to the protests. Leaders from major royalist parties, including Rajendra Lingden of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Kamal Thapa of RPP-Nepal, actively joined the street demonstrations.
The indefinite movement had begun on Jestha 15 (May 29), and royalist groups and parties have vowed to continue until their demands are addressed.
