KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has accused the coalition government formed by major parties of being deeply involved in corruption.

Speaking at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Lingden said the government formed by two major parties—Nepali Congress and CPN-UML—was acting as if it had secured a tender to loot the nation.

He alleged that ministers were engaged in a race over who could amass more wealth in a shorter time, rather than serving the people.

Highlighting that nearly a dozen ministers have already been embroiled in public controversies, he emphasized the need for thorough investigations into their conduct.

Lingden remarked that the situation has deteriorated to the point where one must ask “where corruption is not, rather than where it is.”

He stressed that tackling corruption cannot be achieved merely by punishing civil servants; political leaders at the highest level must also be held accountable.

He also criticized the government for ignoring repeated calls from the opposition to form a parliamentary investigation committee.

Warning of mounting frustration, Lingden said pressure will now be exerted from the streets. In protest of their unmet demands, RPP lawmakers also boycotted the House session.
