KATHMANDU: Nepal faces mounting political uncertainty as all lawmakers from two opposition parties—the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)—have tendered their resignations amid ongoing Gen-Z protests.

RSP’s acting president Dol Prasad Aryal confirmed that all 20 of the party’s federal MPs have stepped down.

Party president Rabi Lamichhane remains under suspension.

The RSP has demanded the formation of a judicial commission to probe Monday’s violent incidents and the creation of an all-party national unity government.

At the same time, RPP chief whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi announced that all 42 of the party’s lawmakers—both in the federal and provincial assemblies—have collectively resigned, citing the political turmoil triggered by the nationwide youth-led movement.
