KATHMANDU: At an all-party meeting held Tuesday evening at Baluwatar, Sobita Gautam and Swarnim Wagle represented the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The party denounced the previous UML–Congress coalition as a symbol of misgovernance and arrogance.

Wagle said the moral and political legitimacy of the old regime ended after the September 8 Gen Z protest massacre, making a fresh mandate necessary.

“A new election for the House of Representatives must be held within six months, while the National Assembly’s permanent structure should remain to prevent regression,” he added.

While expressing goodwill toward the Sushil Karki-led government, RSP warned that support cannot be indefinite.

Wagle outlined five principles for legitimacy: fair election preparation, strict anti-corruption measures, economic reforms, quality development, and strong international relations.

The party also demanded impartial investigation of the September 8 incident, maintaining police morale, removing party influence from the Election Commission, and prosecuting corruption cases through proper legal channels.

RSP emphasized implementing economic reforms, ensuring transparency in public procurement, pursuing credible high commissions for constitutional amendments, and institutionalizing all-party dialogue.

Wagle urged UN and friendly nations’ oversight for fair elections and called for diplomatic measures to enable voting for Nepalis abroad.

“The country needs stability and accountable governance, not a return to the old ways,” he said.
